The 6th edition of the National Forum on Emergencies and Social Issues kicked off to great acclaim on March 18th at the Ibiza Conference Centre, consolidating its prestige as a national benchmark in specialized training for healthcare professionals, state security forces, firefighters, and the general public.

The opening day featured the “Night & Day Drugs 360º” training, a course completely updated this year that analyzes the impact of substance consumption while providing key tools for prevention and management. As a new highlight, this year’s edition featured Nuria Calzada, one of Spain’s leading experts in substance testing, alongside the team from the Sala Amable at Can Misses Hospital, who joined the program to share their approach to treating sexual assault cases.

A start filled with education, motivation, and an emotional tribute

Following the first training session, the day continued at the Jesús Auditorium with Emilio Duró, a renowned speaker in motivation and personal development. In his address, he offered attendees strategies for facing daily challenges with a “Positive Mental Attitude.”

The event presentation was hosted by Montse Monsalve and featured special remarks by Juan Carlos Roselló, Councilor for Public Safety of Santa Eulària des Riu, who addressed the audience to highlight the importance of training and collaboration in safety. He also emphasized the commitment of the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council, the event’s main collaborator, in driving initiatives that strengthen professional readiness.

The event brought together not only forum trainees, but also representatives from Ibiza’s various town councils, executives from prominent island companies, and members of the general public.

One of the most poignant moments of the day was the tribute paid to Andrés García, co-founder of Emergency Staff alongside Lluís Andrés Tubau. During the ceremony, his unwavering commitment to emergency professional training and his lasting community impact were remembered.

To conclude the opening day, a cocktail reception was held in a networking atmosphere, giving attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences.

The Forum continues with new training modules

Over the coming days, the forum will continue with two key training programs at the Santa Eulària des Riu Conference Centre:

  • “Control of Agitated Persons in Hostile Environments” (CPAH) (March 20 & 21), focusing on managing high-tension situations, gender-based violence, and assaults on professionals.
  • “Multidisciplinary Accident Response” (IMACC) (April 1 & 2), focusing on traffic accident and fire intervention, with special emphasis on alcohol- and drug-related incidents.

Institutional and corporate backing: Key to the forum’s success

This event was made possible thanks to the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council, the Consell d’Eivissa, the Ibiza Town Council alongside the Department of Families and Social Affairs, the Institut Balear de la Dona, the Ministry of Equality, the State Pact against Gender-Based Violence, and the National Police.

Likewise, thanks to local companies including Ushuaïa, Hï, UNVRS, O Beach, All Solutions, Policlínica, Desto, La Sirena, Blau Parc Hotels, Gráficas Pitiusas, Fundación Pacha, Elite Bags, Servicios Palau, Dipesa, Grupo Nassau, Orenes (Operlevante), Ibiza Rocks, Exclusivas Miró alongside brands Granini, Aqualy, and Blackzi, and Frutería la Palentina.

This successful start reaffirms the importance of this gathering, which once again positions Ibiza as a key hub for emergency and social issues education.
