IBIZA, March 24

Sant Josep de Sa Talaia is, as of this week, a new cardiac protected area in Ibiza. Today and tomorrow, Emergency Staff is delivering a training course for Local Police officers in Sant Josep to acquire the necessary skills to operate the new semi-automated external defibrillators (AEDs) acquired by the Town Council.

As Andrés García Córdoba, Training Director at the company, announced: “The goal is to equip Sant Josep police officers with the precise skills to operate the defibrillators now equipped in patrol cars, providing higher service quality for citizens.”

This training will take place today, March 24th, and tomorrow, March 25th, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the municipal facilities in Sant Jordi. In addition to AED operation, the theoretical and practical sessions will cover adult and pediatric Basic Life Support (BLS), choking response protocols for both age groups, and hemorrhage control.

These courses are officially accredited by the Balearic Government and feature both theoretical and practical components divided across two four-hour sessions. Training is conducted using trainer AEDs—exact practice replicas of the specific models installed in their police vehicles.

“Our aim is to ensure that police officers have all the tools to intervene during medical emergencies and increase survival odds for individuals experiencing severe cardiac events,” summarized García Córdoba. In this regard, the medical expert noted that “police officers are first responders, so having these devices in their patrol cars enables action from minute zero, which will directly translate into saving many lives.” He added that these devices “are simple to use and extremely safe for patients.”

Emergency Staff distributes state-of-the-art defibrillators on the island—something that the Training Director considers “extremely positive, as we can directly recommend the most suitable device for each venue, demonstrate its operation, and resolve any operational issues,” he concluded.
