Ibiza, famous for its idyllic beaches and vibrant nightlife, is a world-renowned tourist destination attracting thousands of visitors every year. It is the epitome of island tourism; yet behind its beauty and excitement, lies a growing concern affecting communities everywhere and Ibiza in particular: cardiac emergencies.
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and having rapid access to an automated defibrillator can spell the difference between life and death. That is why the importance of cardioprotected public spaces in Ibiza cannot be overstated.
Imagine a scenario where someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest on a beach, in a restaurant, inside a crowded nightclub, or right in the middle of the street. Every second counts, and a swift response is vital to saving a life. In fact, only 5% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survive, and every minute without intervention reduces the survival rate by 10%. Thus, sudden cardiac arrest is a time-critical process where the outcome changes dramatically if resuscitation maneuvers take place as quickly as possible.
At Emergency Staff, we are committed to contributing our expertise in medical emergencies to turn Ibiza into a global benchmark for cardioprotection. That is why we created the social project “No lo dejes para mañana” (Don’t leave it for tomorrow), pursuing an ambitious goal: positioning Ibiza as a global leader with the highest percentage of citizens trained in CPR and defibrillator use through free workshops and events open to everyone.
Beyond securing cardioprotected public spaces, ensuring a high proportion of the population knows how to perform CPR sends a clear message of commitment and responsibility from Ibiza to the entire world: Ibiza’s dedication to the health and well-being of everyone who makes the island possible.
