After three days accumulating knowledge on drug intoxications, the professionals participating in the 2020 Healthcare and Emergency Training Forum were able to put acquired theory into practice. The Drug Intoxications course concluded today, Thursday, with a practical session simulating various scenarios involving drug intoxications, violent situations, sexual violence, and chemical submissions.
Professional actors and actresses recreated practical scenarios at the Santa Eulària des Riu Conference Center (Palacio de Congresos), the venue for these healthcare, social, and emergency training sessions.
“We want students to put into practice what they learned in the theoretical phase of the course through high-quality exercises. It is essential for professionals to experience stress levels similar to their daily environments so they can integrate this knowledge into their everyday practice,” explains Andrés García, Training Director at Emergency Staff.
“For us, having the opportunity to train in these areas is crucial. What I liked most was the approach of the training. The practical exercises are extremely realistic. I leave with the mindset of looking beyond immediate symptoms when treating an intoxicated patient so nothing important slips through,” explained one participant.
Patricia Fernández, Head of Communications and Coordinator of the 2020 Healthcare and Emergency Training Forum—which brings 60 professionals to Ibiza this year—highlights that this national event is “of vital importance to healthcare, social, and emergency personnel.” “It has an integrative character and positions Ibiza as a hub for specialized training. Next year, we hope the situation will have normalized so attendance returns to our usual numbers of 150 professionals, or even double that figure. The Emergency Staff brand is synonymous with high-quality experiential training in healthcare and emergency services, which is why we set no limits,” notes Fernández.
The Forum will continue over the weekend with a course focused on control of aggressive persons and hostile areas.
