On October 25th, during the 18th Local Police Day of Ibiza (Diada de la Policía Local), an emotional and deeply meaningful moment took place for all of us in the island’s emergency response sector. Among the 127 decorations presented to officers and citizens, one in particular brought the entire audience to its feet: the posthumous honorary decoration awarded to Andrés García Córdoba, SAMU 061 nurse and co-founder of Emergency Staff.

A recognition born from respect and admiration

Andrés was honored “for his exemplary professional work, commitment, and valuable collaboration with the island’s Local Police forces,” particularly through ongoing training to enhance the effectiveness of emergency response services.

His partner, Elena Llorente, accepted the award before a standing-room audience, united in a unanimous round of applause that lasted several minutes.
A collective gesture that speaks louder than words.

A colleague, a trainer, a leader

Those who worked alongside him described him as a brilliant, approachable professional who was always ready to help.
Above all, they emphasized his humanity:

“He was a wonderful person. He supported us unconditionally. We shared a great friendship with him,”
said Tomás Monzón, Sant Antoni Local Police Sub-Inspector.

Beyond his healthcare role at 061, Andrés played an essential part in training the island’s police forces. His ability to teach through empathy and hands-on experience turned every training session into a transformative learning opportunity.

His legacy: Training to save lives

At Emergency Staff, we believe training saves lives. Andrés proved it every day through his tireless efforts to enhance the preparedness of police officers, healthcare workers, firefighters, and security personnel.

Today, many people in Ibiza are better protected thanks to him:

  • For the resuscitation techniques he taught.

  • For the skills he passed on.

  • For the confidence and strength he instilled in every student.

His understanding of the profession remains deeply embedded in our methodology, our values, and every project we undertake.

Thank you, Andrés

His passing on December 29th, 2024, was a profound loss.
Yet his mark remains indelible on Ibiza’s emergency community and on all those whose lives he touched through his dedication, generosity, and heart-led leadership.

From Emergency Staff, we express our deepest gratitude to the island’s Local Police for this recognition honoring his memory and professional devotion.

We will continue working to carry forward his legacy with the same commitment and passion he taught us.

For you, Andrés.
For your legacy.
For all the lives you will still help save.
